Spoiled billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is missing and presumed dead when his yacht is lost at sea. He returns five years later a changed man, determined to clean up the city as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow.
As the summary tells you I found this show, after seeing 11 episodes, a big disappointment.

The main characters have absolutely no chemistry with each other and their acting is just terrible in general. I found out that after a couple of episodes I thought there was something I missed. In the intro he tells us he "becomes something else". Now since I am not a big Arrow fan, or any comics in general, I thought there must have happened something that changed him into something else like with the Hulk. But no (at least not up to this point). But more important is that there isn't any indication that they will reveal something like that has happened. That is just one small example of how awful the story-writing is.

In my opinion a show must have got some credibility. Like in other shows and movies we tend to believe that they can do those extraordinary things but up now they have failed to let me believe anything. Perhaps it is due to the acting, lack of chemistry or the thin storyline but I assume it is because all of those things together. The only thing that is actually good about the show are the action scenes. But since they failed to let me believe anything those aren't good enough to carry the show.

all in all a terrible show and I don't expect any progress in the near future. The struggle for redemption, forgiveness and becoming a better person. This is what this show is all about. Throughout every season, Oliver's desire to keep his city out of danger is tested but as always, he manages to overcome anything thrown his way. This take on DC's 'Green Arrow' keeps you hooked throughout every season and never leaves a moment of action-packed ass- kicking. There are, however, some episodes that do let you down but, 'Arrow' does not disappoint and keeps you at the edge of your seat every time.

Playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), decides to go on a trip with his father. But after an accident, he gets stranded on a mysterious island called Li-An-Yu. After five years, he returns to Starling City as a reformed man. But Oliver is back with an agenda - to get rid of all evil poisoning his city... with the help of a bow and arrow. What ensues is Oliver's on-going battle with his own inner-demons whilst punishing those who is a threat. With the help of his friends, John Diggle (David Ramsey), Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), Oliver learns to manage his break down his own walls and work as the vigilante known as 'The Green Arrow'.

Amell's portrayal as the newly reformed Oliver Queen intrigues you instantly and makes you wonder about his story and his motivation. His right-hand man John Diggle quickly becomes a brother-figure to him which Oliver takes time getting used to. Ramsey's performance of the ex- military is great and acting as 'the voice of reason', provides the viewers an insight into the rational side of a catastrophe. Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak is just... the perfect casting. Her as the bubbly I.T girl is amazing and her ramblings distracts you from the action - only if it's for a few moments. Katie Cassidy as Laurel is great too and as Oliver's ex, definitely is an example of how an ex should be... supportive and a great friend.

The first season, as are all first seasons in every show, is the introductory one where you get to know the characters and what their agendas are. So you don't get to see much. But, the subsequent seasons takes you down a darker route, where Oliver's main goal is one thing and one thing only - making sure Starling City is a save place to live. The flashbacks does take you away from the primary story, which can be frustrating, but manages to give an insight into what happens to Oliver when he is stranded on Li-An-Yu.

Overall, I think you can give this show a chance. The dark tones are refreshing and there are some comedic moments which provides relief, so you don't feel depressed after watching an episode.
The Arrow is based on the DC Comics character, The Green Arrow, created by Morton Weisinger and designed by George Papp, which first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in November 1941.

The character was originally a backup strip in the comics who is a millionaire playboy with a sidekick called Speedy and distinctive equipment such as gadget arrows, an Arrowcar and an Arrowplane. As such, the character had a long and largely undistinguished publishing history except for his inclusion into the Justice League series and a short run of stories by the important comics artist, Jack Kirby, years before his most famous work at Marvel Comics.

That changed when the innovative comics artist, Neal Adams, completely redesigned the look of the character in 1969, most notably by giving him a distinctive Van Dyke beard. This change inspired his frequent collaborator, writer Dennis O'Neil, to change the premise of the character by having him lose his fortune and becoming an ardent leftist political activist devoted to helping the underprivileged as a combination of Robin Hood and the Yippie political activist, Abbie Hoffman. This character became much more popular as a result such as giving him a famous series of socially conscious stories in the early 1970s with Green Lantern and later his own various solo comic book series.

This character has appeared in animation before this TV series version appeared on Smallville, such as the first incarnation of SuperFriends, Justice League Unlimited and a DC Comics Showcase short. For music lists with scene descriptions, go here: The main adversary is the League of Assassins, alternately known as the League of Shadows or Tempest. As with most media, it is led by(Matt Nable). During the first season, it is primarily represented by(John Barrowman), who has his own dual identity as the Dark Archer (Green Arrow's arch nemesis from the comics). Oliver's mother, Moira (Susanna Thompson), was blackmailed into working with Malcolm.(Jeffrey C. Robinson and Manu Bennett), Eddie Fyers (a supporting character from the Green Arrow comic, played by Sebastian Dunn), and(Dylan Neal) are involved in Oliver's training, with an implied link to a greater conspiracy. The second season introduces(Kevin Alejandro),(Michael Jai White), KGBeast (David Nykl),(Graham Shiels), and Task Force X, with the latter revealed to have hired Fyers. Other prominent villains are(Seth Gabel), who has been reimagined to be the series equivalent to the Joker or , Asian crime boss(Kelly Hu), the assassin Deadshot (Michael Rowe), and HIVE leader Damian Darkh. John Diggle was the first person back in the main city to find out Oliver's secret. It was at the end of the third episode in Season 1. Yes. In the DC comics continuity, he is a member of the Great Ten, a Chinese superhero team similar to the Justice League (2001). Codenamed Da Yi Zhe Wan (Accomplished Perfect Physician), he is the team's healer and diplomat. He was not involved in Green Arrow's training, and many of his abilities were magical in nature.

In the TV series continuity, Yao does not have any magical or metahuman powers, but is instead a master martial artist, having more in common with another Great Ten member, the Celestial Archer. However, he does retain the military and medical background of his comics counterpart. Kyudo (Japanese for "Way of the bow"), a mixture of archery and martial arts popularized by the samurai of feudal Japan (though it may have actually been Chinese in origin). During his sparring sessions with Slade and Diggle, and when he trains in his dojo in the Arrowcave, he uses Eskrima, a Filipino martial art that usually involves improvised melee weapons.
